Lord Rumi Verjee founded the Rumi Foundation in the year 2006. The Foundation believes in the importance of identifying and nurturing talent in young people. The Foundation’s priority is to focus on identifying talent wherever it might exist. The Foundation focuses on education, innovation and entrepreneurship while trying to raise awareness of dialogue with individuals who possess the capacity to talk about their opinion. The Foundation has demonstrated an ongoing commitment to humanitarian work not just in the UK, but also in India, East Africa, and South America. The Foundation supports individuals and organisations with the capacity to become future leaders and helps others in need. The Rumi Foundation partners with individuals and organisations all across the globe who have a similar vision to nurture inspiring initiatives with the capacity to create a more prosperous and hopefully better society for all. The Rumi Foundation believes that innovation and learning are by far the most excellent means for positive social change, and they aim to nurture new thinking and to extend its impact beyond institutional and geographical boundaries. MAHESHWARI FOUNDATION
Maheshwari Foundation was founded and registered in India in March 2010 and the UK in 2011. Its primary mission is to achieve zero illiteracy zero hunger and thus upliftment of the society through initiatives that enable and promotes the lives of the disadvantaged. The Foundation helps people with the right tools that equip them to discover their inner strength and confidence to find their place in society. Maheshwari Foundation has pledged a sum of minimum 10 crores towards its objectives. They offer the scholarship to support deserving candidates who wish to pursue studies in Social Work at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. This scholarship is known as the Deo Kumar Maheshwari Scholarship for Studies in Social Work. This scholarship is open to all students in India. They run a school known as Maheshwari School For All. A pre-school was set up in Gondalpara and Katliya villages near Howrah in 2008. The objective was to initiate and help focus the children towards broad-based education. Along with education, the children are provided with nutritious meals and snacks daily and are taught the benefits of hygiene and cleanliness. Approximately 60 children benefit annually from this facility. Since 2008, nearly 500 children have accessed this facility. Another initiative of this Foundation is ‘Life a Spiritual Gym’ founded by Sangeeta Maheshwari in 2016. The aim is to spread awareness of ways to live with inner happiness and strength. Workshops and talks are organized to mentor people to tap into their fullest potential. Bespoke mindfulness and awareness workshops are organised for the children of Future Hope, a charity for street children in Kolkata.
